Antikythera Shipwreck Exhibition

A new temporary exhibition with many unseen findings of the Antikythera legendary shipwreck will be presented for the first time in the National Archaelogilal Museum. The Exhibition will be on display from April 2012 to April 2013 and this offers an additional reason to visit Athens especially for the numerous enthusiasts of the famous Antikythera mechanism. As Professor Michael Edmunds of Cardiff University who led the most recent study of the mechanism claims: "This device is just extraordinary, the only thing of its kind. The design is beautiful, the astronomy is exactly right. The way the mechanics are designed just makes your jaw drop. Whoever has done this has done it extremely carefully ... in terms of historic and scarcity value, I have to regard this mechanism as being more valuable than the Mona Lisa."

Greece is not just sun, sea and unforgettable Mediterranean food, it is also the Classical Greece, so do not forget to include the museum in your long list of must see things in Athens.
